These consists of two published maps of the United States, showing administrative regions of the GAO and locations of GAO records depositories, 1952, with one of the sheets annotated to show changes in the Alaska office; and 25 published maps of areas in the Central and Western States, annotated in the Indian Tribal Section of the Claims Division, 1922-37.

The Office of the First Comptroller was created in 1789 by the act establishing the Treasury Department. His responsibilities included final approval of all settled accounts, keeping records relating to receipts and disbursements of public funds, and keeping copies of contracts.
